Accept People as they are...

A story was told about a soldier who was finally coming home after having fought in Vietnam. He called his parents from San Francisco.

"Mom and Dad, I am coming home, but I have a favor to ask, I have a friend I would like to bring home with me".

"Sure," they replied, "We would love to meet him".

“There is something you should know ", the son continued, " he was hurt pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped on a land mine and lost an arm and a leg. He has nowhere else to go, and I want him to come and live with us".

"I am sorry to hear that, Son. Maybe we can help him find somewhere to live".

"No , Mom and Dad, I want him to live with us".

"Son", said the father, "you don't know what you are asking. Someone with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us. We have our own lives to live, and we cannot let something like this interfere with our lives. I think you should just come home and forget about this guy. He will find a way to live on his own".

At that point, the son hung up the phone. The parents heard nothing more from him. A few days later, however, they received a call from the San Francisco police. Their son had died after falling from a building, they were told. The police believed it was suicide. The grief stricken parents flew to San Francisco and were taken to the city morgue to identify the body of their son. They recognized him, but to their horror they also discovered something they didn't know, their son had only one arm and one leg.

Probably, the parents in this story are like many of us. We find it easy to love those who are good looking or fun to have around, but we don't like people who inconvenience us or make us feel uncomfortable . We would rather stay away from people who are not as healthy, beautiful, or smart as we are . Thankfully, there is someone who loves us with an unconditional love that welcomes us into this Divine Family, regardless of how messed up we are .

Tonight, before you tuck yourself in for the night, say a little prayer that the Master will give you the Strength you need to accept people as they are , and to help us all the more understanding of those who are different from us !

Here I remember the beautiful lines. Wish, if we can all apply.........

“Adjustment & Compromise are 2 crucial sides of the same coin called Relationship. Adjust....when someone wants to be with you & Compromise.....when you want to be with someone: YOU LOVE”

Change – The Delta Factor

Ask any Experienced Executive Leader or a Seasoned Business Manager;
What are the main factors to be successful in Business? Mostly they
will say and agree that Vision, Courage and Determination are the
three main factors for success. Which means having a crystal clear and
compelling Vision; Courage to take the steps needed to achieve the
milestones towards the Vision and the determination to keep up the
steps to achieve the desired Vision. Which I agree is true to its last
word. But there is another very important factor which is very
essential to achieve the desired results in the business world.

The fourth factor, which I would like to call the Delta Factor, is
'CHANGE'. Alas this factor is often overlooked or taken for granted,
but if we are to understand the importance of this factor and empower
it we can achieve the abundance of success with much ease and even
beyond our Vision. Winston Churchill Quoted " To improve is to Change,
to be perfect is to Change often ". In today’s disposable economy,
what is hot today is not tomorrow and if we want and wish to be
successful leader, then just having the vision, courage and
determination alone will not help but we need to learn the art of
change to its perfection.

Within every person is an innate resource of inexhaustible and potent
potentiality that will; if we let it, enable us to achieve our life’s
ambitions and to achieve them without the stress and strain, the ups
and downs of traditional thinking normally associated with successful
leadership. If we truly desire to be successful in business, if we
truly desire to step out of line and build something creative, if we
truly desire to mold our own life and create our own destiny; as long
as it is true desire, not just fanciful dreaming without deep inner
desire means we have the innate ability to achieve it.

The biggest problem any of us have in business is ourselves; our
attitudes, beliefs, fears and limitations. The one problem we all
have, at various differing levels, is to get ourselves out of our way;
our egos, our fears, our false or limited thinking to allow the
greatness of our potentiality to flow from within and take form as the
great success we dream to achieve. I believe our greatness lies in our
willingness to Change so we need to keep refining, be a lifelong
learner, ambitious, and focused on our personal and professional
growth to release the imprisoned splendor within.

Do we have the guts to grow our business in a new way, or will we stay
stuck in the quicksand of same old way? Are we ready to make that
Leap? Are we ready to Change?

The art of serving food....

Maharshtra- Till date, a traditional formal meal will be a sit-down affair with a specific order of serving of savouries and sweets, curries and rice or rotis, and a person who does not know this is not considered to be well trained in th...e art of hospitality. A typical lunch or dinner usually starts with poli (bread), accompanied by one or more bhajis (vegetables) and a koshimbir (salad) along with some accompaniment usually pickle. This is usually followed by a second course of varan (thick dal), aamti (sour dal) or rassa (curry) with rice. The plate served has a specific place for each food item served. The bhaji is served in the plate on the right hand side while the chutney, koshimbir are served from left going up the periphery of the circular plate. The papad, bhaji are served below the koshimbir with the rice and poli served at the bottom of the circle closed to the diner’s hand. The puran is served at the top in the inner concentric circle. The amti, rassa is served in separate bowls placed on right hand side of the diner. Water is placed on the left hand side. It is considered ill mannered to use the left hand while eating.

Simple way to remembr the Maharashtrian way f servng fud iz,KO,LO,CHI,MI,BHA-the basic part then the other order follows.puran,dahi,a bit f khir.

BTW when food is served on the 12th or 13th day after a death, The order mentioned above changes. It is just the opposite the!

Kerala Style: The method of serving a sadya or meal in Kerala is very precise. The leaves to be eaten from are always the end section of the plantain leaf. When it is laid on the table, the narrow part of the leaf must always be on the left... side. Serving begins from the bottom left half of the leaf on which is placed a small yellow banana. Next to this are served jaggery coated banana chips plain banana chips and papad. Then beginning from the top left half of the leaf are placed lime curry, mango pickle, injipuli (a thick ginger tamarind curry), lime pickle, thoran (a dry mix of any vegetable with coconut), vegetable stew or olan (gourd is the main ingredient), aviyal (a thick mixture of vegetables in a coconut based gravy), Pachadi (raw mango and curd mixture) and khichdi. Only after all these are placed on the leaf, does the person begin eating. Thereafter the rice is served at the bottom center. The sambhar (a lentil based gravy that came to Kerala from neighboring Tamil Nadu) and kalan (a curry of yam and curd, spiced with pepper) is poured onto the rice. When the meal is over, pradaman (rice flour, coconut milk and jaggery) or pal payasam (sugar sweetened milk and rice) is served onto the leaf. After dessert, rasam (fiery pepper water) is poured into cupped hands to be drunk and then a little bit of curd to aid digestion.

Moral Story

A Boy was born to a couple after eleven years of marriage. They were a loving couple and the boy was the gem of their eyes. When the boy was
around two years old, one morning the husband saw a medicine bottle open.

He was late for office so he asked his wife to cap the bottle and keep it in the cupboard. His wife, preoccupied in the kitchen totally forgot the matter.

The boy saw the bottle and playfully went to the bottle fascinated by its colour and drank it all. It happened to be a poisonous medicine meant for adults in small dosages. When the child collapsed the mother hurried him to the hospital, where he died. The mother was stunned. She was terrified how to face her husband.

When the distraught father came to the hospital and saw the dead child he looked at his wife and uttered just five words.

QUESTIONS:

1. What were the five words?
2. What is the implication of this story?

ANSWER :

The husband just said "I am with you Darling"

The husband's totally unexpected reaction is a proactive behavior. The child is dead. He can never be brought back to life. There is no point
in finding fault with the mother. Besides, if only he had taken time to keep the bottle away, this would not have happened.

No one is to be blamed. She had also lost her only child. What she needed at that moment was consolation and sympathy from the husband.
That is what he gave her.

If everyone can look at life with this kind of perspective, there would be much fewer problems in the world. "A journey of a thousand miles
begins with a single step." Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiven, selfishness, and fears. And you will find things are actually not as difficult as you think.

MORAL OF THE STORY :

Sometimes we spend time in asking who is responsible or whom to blame, whether in a relationship, in a job or with the people we know. By this way we miss out some warmth in human relationship.

Never take some one for granted,Hold every person Close to your Heart because you might wake up one day and realise that you have lost a diamond while you were too busy collecting stones." Remember this always in life.

The Man Who Thinks He Can…

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you would like to win but you think you can’t;
It’s almost a cinch you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost.
For out in the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will;
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you’re outclassed, you are.
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself,
Before you can ever win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go to the
Stronger or the faster man.
But sooner or later, the man who wins;
Is the man who thinks he can!
